On February 10th, the Ramsey City Council approved the sale of nearly one acre of land to Westco Properties LLC with a unanimous vote. The property is found at6590 141st Avenue NW and will be sold for $95,000. The intent is to close on the property on June 24th of this year.

Westco Properties is a holding company from Elk River and managed by Derek West. West is also the owner of the 24 Restore businesses found in Ramsey. Since the store is running out of space with the current 10,000 square foot location at 6615 141st Avenue NW, West plans to expand by constructing a 12,000 square foot building on the new parcel of land. His plans include working out of both locations.

The city is happy to see the business expand and happy to help by selling the land to the company. The council will need to approve the plans for the site before it can be developed. The concept West has for the land does fit into the current zoning regulations.

The redevelopment of this property will generate about $31,000 of annual property taxes, with about 25% going to Ramsey. The remaining will go to Anoka County and the Anoka-Hennepin School District.

The property at 6590 141st Avenue has been vacant and tax exempt since the city purchased it for $211,200 in 2006.

The 24 Restore business was first established in the city of Blaine in 1994. West moved the business to Ramsey, his hometown in 1998 and started with a lease for a 5,000 square foot space, which he eventually bought and expanded to the current 10,000 square foot location.

The company employs 29 people currently, which include project managers, marketing representatives, carpenters, cleaning technicians, drying technicians and others. They handle many types of projects from cleaning up after fires to building collapses to carpet cleaning.

The company is expected to hire 10 to 20 more employees with the expansion.
