Blaine Festival is Next Weekend!

Posted on Sunday, June 22nd, 2014 at 2:44pm.

As one weekend winds down it’s time to set your sights on the one coming up. This coming weekend, from June 27 to June 29 (and July 4th for fireworks) you might want to make plans to attend the Blaine Festival. Formerly known as Blaine’s Blazin’ 4th, the event has been expanded, with lots more to do and, of course, eat.

Most of the fun happens at Aquatore Park. The fireworks event will be held at the National Sports Center.

Did you know that Blaine has two K-9 units? Indeed we do and you can see a demonstration of their amazing abilities on Friday night from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, from 11:30 a.m. until noon.

You can also check out the crafts show, the carnival rides or get your groove on at the street dance with music from GB Leighton.

Saturday has too many events to mention, so let’s just hit the highlights:

  • Softball tournament in the morning
  • Carnival
  • Street Dance
  • Parade
  • Petting zoo
  • Bingo
  • Karaoke
  • Kids’ magic show
  • Monster Trucks

Blaine Festival Sunday events include:

  • Car show and swap meet
  • Softball tournament
  • Carnival
  • Kids dance party
  • Kid Power Pedal Tractor Pull
  • Magic show
  • Dance performances

One of my favorite events is the Medallion Hunt. If you want to get in on a chance to win a $500 cash prize you’ll need to get all the clues that will lead you to the medallion. The first clue will be posted at blaineparks.com at noon on Friday, June 27. The second clue will be posted that afternoon at 4:30 p.m. They’ll keep posting clues until the medallion is found, so check the site every morning at 10:00 a.m.

You won’t have to search the city for the medallion – they’ve narrowed the location down to one of Blaine’s 64 parks, above-ground (so don’t start digging) and no higher than 5 feet above-ground (so don’t climb the trees).

Parking and admission are both free, which means you’ll have more money for the fun stuff inside – like the beer garden.
