Remember date nights? They become even more important to your relationships with the addition of kids. Scheduling time alone is usually challenging, but not if you live in Blaine. Victory Links has come to the rescue by offering Parent’s Night Out every Friday night, starting this Friday, the 22nd.
Drop off your budding Tiger Woods or Annika Sörenstam to receive instruction, practice his or her golf game and have some fun with other activities. This program happens every Friday night and it’s for kids age 8 and older. It’s is a bit pricey, however, at $44 a session. Hours are 5:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Register by calling 763-792-7344.
Winter Baseball Leagues in Blaine
Yay! Winter II baseball league begins February 13 and registration is now open at the National Sports Center. Indoor baseball sessions help keep your skills up until you can get outdoors in in spring. The National Sports Center is offering sessions for all ages and skill levels, but here are a couple you may find particularly interesting if you’re a parent:
Session for 4-5 year-olds – the little ones will have fun in a t-ball league, while learning the basics. It’s led by the Minnesota Twins Academy staff and Lovdahl Pitching Academy. This one is called First Mitts and it’s held Saturday mornings from 10 to 11, from February 13 to March 19, 2016. The fee for First Mitts is $65 and you can learn more and register here.
Sessions for 6-9 year-olds – Known as Skills Training, Minnesota Twins Academy and Lovdahl Pitching Academy will teach your child all about hitting, fielding and throwing. Skills Training runs from February 13 to March 19, 2016 every Saturday morning from 11 until noon. The fee for Skills Training is $78. Learn more here.
Sessions for 10-18 year-olds – The Twins Training Academy sessions are broken down into two sub-sessions, Junior (for kids 10 to 13 years old) and Senior, for those age 14 to 18. Here, the training is at a higher level with Twins personnel leading the way but the child will also learn from top high school and college coaches. Learn more about both of these sessions here.
Snow Day is happening this year on Saturday, January 30 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Wargo Nature Center. This is one of our favorite annual family events. You don’t need to register, all ages are welcome and, best of all, it’s FREE! Enjoy all-things SNOW, including ice fishing, Norwegian kick sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and lots more. If you’d prefer the great indoors, that’s ok, there’s still plenty to do, such as crafts and coloring sheets for the kids, refreshments and more. Thank the parks and rec departments of the cities of Blaine and Lino Lakes for Snow Day but call Wargo Nature Center if you need details: 651-429-8007. Wargo Nature Center is located at 7701 Main St. in Hugo.
