Moving to a new home

Just the thought of moving can be very stressful. However, in some cases, it must be done. Whether you have accepted a new job, need to be closer to family or need to move to Blaine, MN for any other reason, you can make it less stressful. Here are some ways to eliminate some of the stress of moving.

Get Rid of the Unused

Before you start packing, clean out all the things you don't use or need. If you haven't used it or worn it in the past year, it can be donated, sold or given to someone you know. There's no good reason to pack things you won't need or use in your new home.

Pack a Box of First Day Essentials

When you first move into a new place, there are some things you know you will need immediately. You will need some cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels, scissors, a first aid kit, paper plates, napkins and other items. This box should go in the car with you and should be easy to get to when you arrive.

Color Code Everything

It's always nice to label things based on what is in the box, but color coding them will make it even better. When you use specific colors for each room, it's even easier to make sure the boxes all arrive in the right place of your new home.

Label the Electronics

If you want to save quite a bit of hassle and quickly get the TV or computer up and running for the kids, label the electronics when you pack them. Make sure you color code the cords, so it's easy to pick the right ones out of the box when setting these items up.

Moving doesn't have to be as stressful, if you're organized. You can utilize daycare to make it easier to pack and you can do many other things to keep the move from becoming more stressful than it has to be.
