As summer heats up so does the event calendar in our neck of the woods. Even without the 4th of July festivities, the month of July is packed with things to do in and around Blaine.
Fireworks in Blaine
The Independence Day fireworks display in Blaine happens this Saturday at the National Sports Center. They will be shooting them off at 10:00 pm.
Coon Rapids Community Celebration
If this is an event you attend every year you’ll need to know that it has a new location in 2015, near the Coon Rapids Ice Center on Crooked Lake Blvd. The parade is this Thursday and it kicks off the opening of the carnival midway and a whole weekend of nothing but fun. Aside from the carnival you’ll find food, live music, bingo and, on the 4th, a spectacular fireworks display. Coon Rapids Community Celebration happens from July 2 to 4.
Red White & Boom!
This Friday and Saturday in Minneapolis there’ll be lots of runnin’ and fun at this year’s Red White & Boom! The Hot Dam 5K event is Friday evening and the TC half marathon gets underway early Saturday morning. On Friday night you can catch live music at 7 p.m. and then a movie (“Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”) at 9 p.m. at Nicollet Island Amphitheatre. Saturday’s festivities at Father Hennepin Bluffs Park and Mill Ruins Park include food vendors, family activities, two stages of live entertainment and, of course, fireworks around 10 p.m.
Puppet Shows in the Park in Lino Lakes
This is a free event brought to you by Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation. Shows start at 7:00 p.m. and include refreshments. The puppet shows will be held at two different parks. On July 8th, you can catch the show at Highland Meadows Park and on July 22, head to Clearwater Creek Park.
Andover FamilyFun Fest
Now in its 20th year, the Andover FamilyFun Fest brings the Andover City Hall Complex to life. Enjoy a street dance (Saturday night, July 11, at 8 p.m.), Ferris wheel, craft and gift show, car show, bingo and the MN Zoomobile and Magic Bounce Fun Zone for the little ones. It’s a weekend of great fun for the entire family on July 10 and 11. Find details here.

Family Fun Night in Blaine
Circle the date: July 14. Blaine’s annual Family Fun Night is back and better than ever! Join your neighbors from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Aquatore Park. Bring the family to enjoy music, carnival games, giant inflatables and more!
Slice of Shoreview
Anyone who lives here knows that life in Shoreview is worth celebrating, and the best time to do so is at the annual Slice of Shoreview festival. The Slice of Shoreview is an annual festival held to celebrate life in Shoreview, Minnesota. Enjoy the parade, carnival, arts and crafts fair, yummy food, talent show, entertainment and the fireworks show. It all happens from July 24-26.
Blaine Kids Triathlon
Enter your child, age 7 to 14, in the 2nd annual Blaine Kids Triathlon. Distances include either a 100 or 165 yard swim, 2.3 mile bike ride and a 1-mile run. Only 150 entries are available to register soon at blaineparks.com. The fun begins July 25th at Lakeside Commons Park at 8:30 a.m.
