Wow, September is almost upon us. When you grow tired of all the back-to-school shopping, the school open houses and adjustments in sleep schedules, it's time for some fun! There’s so much to do next month as we wring out the last days of summer.
Minnesota State Fair
The state fair is underway and today is seniors, kids and Minnesota State Patrol day, with reduced admission. It’s also Figure Skating Day and you can meet Olympic Gold Medalist Kristi Yamaguchi. If you’re in the mood for music, check out Andy Grammer’s free show at the Bandshell or blast to the past with the The Happy Together Tour 2015. This Grandstand concert features The Association; The Turtles with Flo & Eddie; Mark Lindsay, Former Lead Singer of Paul Revere & The Raiders; The Cowsills; The Grass Roots and The Buckinghams.

Minnesota United FC vs. Indy Eleven
Come on out to the National Sports Center in Blaine and cheer on Minnesota United as they take on the Indy Eleven this Wednesday, September 2. There are two more home games scheduled ths month: Minnesota United takes on the Carolina RailHawks on the 12th and the New York Cosmos on the 19th. All games begin at 7:00 p.m. Get tickets online at ticketalternative.com. Games are held at the National Sports Center here in Blaine.
Even if you’re not a runner, gather up your friends and family, grab blankets and lawn chairs and head out to Lakeside Commons Park for the Blaine Triathlon on September 12. Cheer on your favorite triathlete as he or she swims, bikes and runs in this popular annual event. It all starts at 8:00 a.m. Register for the triathlon online here. Lakeside Commons Park is located at 3020 Lakes Parkway NE, in Blaine.
TPC Twin Cities: Birdies for the Brave
The PGA’s charitable mission states that Together, anything’s possible.” To prove that, they’ll be conducting fundraising “for eight military home front groups as part of Birdies for the Brave (B4B).” It happens at the TPC in Blaine on September 15, from 8:00 a.m. until Noon. The price is $99 per person. Register by calling the TPC Twin Cities at 763-795-0800.
Bring the wee ones to Aquatore Park in Blaine from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 on Friday, September 25. Here they can check out a donkey, goats, pony, rabbits, chicks, sheep and ducks. The kids can also dance to the DJ music, participate in creating animal crafts and even get a (temporary) animal tattoo. Yes, there will be refreshments.
