A new pub has opened in the Spring Lake Park called Laddie Lake Pub. This pub started with a soft opening on New Year's Eve and now is fully operational.
The pub is located in the former Nicklow's Cafe and Bar location at 8466 Highway 65 NE. It's a bit similar to the former cafe and bar, but not quite the same.
The menu still has a Mediterranean flare, but it's not quite the same. Laddie Lake Pub is owned by a distant cousin of the Nicklow brothers, Constantine Pergakis. Many of the old regulars are already becoming regular at the new pub.
Opening Within a Year of Closing
Nicklow's Cafe and Bar closed last year in January and Spring Lake Park purchased the building. The city leased the building to PNN Cafe on September 29th, 2014. However, the stipulation was that a restaurant has to open by the end of the year with a fire suppression system in the basement. Laddie Lake Pub came out of this stipulation and opened just in time.
The restaurant features many Mediterranean dishes, which are not easily found anywhere else in the Twin Cities. Saganaki is one of the dishes served with a flaming presentation and is a fried Greek cheese. It will certainly catch your eye if ordered while dining at Laddie Lake Pub.
Most of the entrees range from about $10 to $28 including the specialty Prime Rib. Along with the entrees, the pub has a signature cocktail, which is called the Metaxa. This cocktail includes Greek Brandy and a secret spirit not revealed by the owner.
Other items found on the menu include:
- Gyros Appetizer
- Hercules Bites
- Greek Village Salad
- Mediterranean Tuna Melt
- Gyros Sandwich Supreme
- Mediterranean Gyros Omelet
- Thiva Pasta with Lamb Chop Lollipops
- Fish and Chips
- And More!
The variety of items makes the menu appealing for just about everybody.
Laddie Lake Pub is open from 11am to 12am, Sunday through Thursday and from 11am to 1am on Friday and Saturday. The kitchen closes at 9pm, Sunday through Thursday and at 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
