OK, so you’re wearin’ the green on this day set aside for a global celebration of Irish culture. Now, how about you take it a step further and step out this evening for some of the fun stuff that goes along with St. Patrick’s Day? We’ve rounded up a few events for you.
Watch the Parade
Although St. Paul held their parade at noon today, Minneapolis’ is at a more civilized hour on a work day – 6:30 p.m. Head downtown to Nicollet Mall – specifically 12th St. to 5th St.
This year’s grand marshal is Jamie Yuccas from WCCO.
Here’s a tip for you Blainites: take public transportation (light rail and bus routes). It’s free to ride from 6 p.m. this evening to 3 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Get the Celtic Rhythm
What U.S. city knows more about the Irish than Boston? The Boston Globe hails the musical ensemble known as Cherish the Ladies as a “leading group in the Irish traditional world.” You can catch them live this evening at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. and you can purchase tickets online. Find the Ordway at 345 Washington Street.
Join Your Peeps
Like hanging around with your “tribe?” Consider joining Saint Patrick’s Association, Inc., a non-profit group that celebrates Irish heritage. This is the association that sponsors the annual St. Paul St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Pub it Up
Sure, tomorrow’s a work day, but you can still act like you're Irish and hit a pub or two around the Twin Cities. Especially since public transportation is free tonight – you won’t need the designated driver. At least go for the food and the blarney!
