It’s a long weekend in Blaine for many. The kids are getting antsy so it’s time to let them out to burn off some energy. There’s stuff for Mom & Dad too.
If you’re looking for something to do in Blaine over the next few days, we’ve got some ideas for you.
Hockey in Blaine
The Schwan Cup High School Hockey Tournament is going on this weekend at the NSC. You can catch the Girls High School Division today through Saturday the 3rd, at the Super Rink.
The top five scoring leaders, by the way, are all East Ridge JV Girls, who play again tomorrow.
Learn to Skate
Get the wee ones out and learning how to skate this weekend. Beginner classes start at 11:45 Saturday morning at the Super Rink.
Experienced or inexperienced – all outdoor ice skating rinks in Blaine are open. Lighted rinks with supervised warming houses include Aurelia Park, Happy Acres, Ostmans Park and Quincy Park. Warming houses are open from noon until 9 p.m. during vacation days.
Get Some Heat
It’s been a mad dash through the holidays and this is the time to wind down. How about some hot yoga? Heat Yoga Studio on Baltimore Street Northeast keeps the room at a balmy 104 degrees. Oh yeah, that’ll thaw you out.
You can sweat out whatever it is you imbibed last night. Best of all? There’s a Groupon that gives you 10 hot yoga classes for $29 (a $130 value) or 20 classes for $49 (save more than $200 on this one).
If you plan on going for the Groupon, do it right away -- the offer ends soon.
There are plenty of places around the Twin Cities to get your tube on. Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove offers 4,900 acres of all kinds of good stuff to do on a winter day. If you don’t want to go tubing, there’s cross-country and downhill skiing, sledding, dog sledding, snowmobiling and snowboarding.
Check conditions before heading out if you plan on cross-country skiing. The reserve is located at 12400 James Deane Parkway in Maple Grove.
Happy New Year from everyone on the Kris Lindahl Team!
