History and Transformation
The resort dates back to 1960 when it was first named after Edward Silker. It was originally established to launch a fishing operation and for the first decade the crew handcrafted a new launch boat every year. Many of the boats are still in use today.
Over the years, the resort has been transformed into something different and new. The resort was acquired by the Corporate Commission of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe in 2002, which is now called Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures.
Since they have transformed the resort into its' current state as a modern boutique hotel with an "up north" feel. The lobby is very inviting and reclaimed wood has been used from the Eddy's fleet boats throughout. Lakeside views are found within the hotel and a see-through fireplace has also been added.
The resort is found at 41334 Shakopee Lake Road in Onamia, Minnesota. It has been featured on DestinationUpNort.com and provides the perfect escape for those looking to get away from Blaine for a week or just a few days.
