About the HOPE 4 Youth Center
The HOPE 4 Youth Center provides help for the homeless youth of the area. It's estimated that about 900 children ranging from kindergarten to college aged are homeless in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. This number is higher than it has been in the past.
The HOPE 4 Youth center has a mission of serving the homeless youth with Outreach Prevention and Education, along with housing. They work to meet the basic needs of these children by proving the following:
- Housing resources including host homes, permanent housing, transitional housing, emergency shelters and family reunification.
- Prevention resources for both at-risk youth and their families to help reduce the number of homeless.
- Outreach services for homeless youth and those at risk due to specific circumstances.
- Education opportunities for at-risk and homeless youth.
The drop-in center provides meals and shelter for many homeless children. It’s located at 2665 Forth Avenue North in Anoka. In 2013, the center provided 270 children with more than 8,000 meals. So far in 2014, they have provided over 150 children with meals and other services.
