Shopping, dining, and just having a good time – these are all things that people really want in life. The question is: is there a place in the city of Blaine where you can do all of these things at once? After all, gas prices are fairly high. The last thing a person wants to do is have to drive to three different places just to have a good time.

The Northtown Mall is the name of a shopping mall that you can find in the city of Blaine. The anchors of the mall include Best Buy, Herberger's, the Burlington Coat Factory, and the Home Depot. The mall is home to more than 100 different restaurants and stores. It is also home to a foot court as well as a public charter school called Paladin Academy.

Glimcher Realty Trust is the name of the company that currently owns this shopping mall.

History of the Mall

This mall first opened its doors to the public in the year 1972. Montgomery Ward, Woolworth, and Powers Dry Goods were the three stores that originally anchored the mall. MainStreet was a very short fifth anchor to the mall before the company converted into what you know today as Kohl's.

It was not until 2006 that Kohl's relocated to have their own store separate from the mall. It was just a few years prior that both Montgomery Ward and HomePlace closed the last couple stores they had.

Did you know that it was not until the late 1990's that the mall offered a food court to its guests? What is interesting about this mall is that a lot of the stores left the mall because the company closed up shop or they moved on to be a bigger self-serving store.

Considering just how many businesses are a part of this mall, you are going to have a hard time not finding anything fun to do.
